The social networking internet has drastically changed the way Australians consume media content; in 2008 we ‘crossed the line’ and now spend more time on the internet than we do watching TV...

The marketing response by leading companies to these changes has been to swim with the tide, to establish online communities with their customers rather than to continue to invest in communication channels of decreasing effectiveness. Online communities are the intersection of IT, CRM and Marketing.


This presentation will look at the business strategies that can be implemented through communities and challenges of scale and volume that must be met to achieve CRM integration. Australian and International examples of customer communities will be used to illustrate the principles discussed and the system challenges facing IT implementers.
